Treatment with hyaluronic acid (HA)
The nasolabial fold is a fold that starts at the wing of the nose and runs to the corner of the mouth. This fold tends to become more pronounced with age and gives the face a markedly tired look. Filling in this furrow allows it to be smoothed out by restoring volume to the skin. The face appears rested and the eyes look softened.
The most commonly used filler is hyaluronic acid.
Nasolabial fold filling is often used as part of an overall facial rejuvenation. This is why it is common to also fill in the cheekbones, which naturally tend to diminish with age. Adding a little volume to the cheekbones restores fullness and therefore youthfulness to the face and blurs the nasolabial fold.
As the nasolabial fold is linked to sagging tissue, it is advisable to use lifting and firming creams.
